Restoration Plaza currently serves as an office and mall complex for the surrounding area and as the unofficial downtown of Bedford-Stuyvesant. In addition to housing utilities services and a post office, the building hosts the BSRC's Center for Arts and Culture.
Formerly an abandoned milk bottling plant, Restoration Plaza today is home to the Bed-Stuy Restoration Corporation, Billie Holiday Theatre, Youth Arts Academy, College of New Rochelle, Skylight Gallery and a number of other small retail businesses and restaurants.
Bed Stuy's Restoration Plaza is going to be reimagined — again. Famed architect Sir David Adjaye has been selected as the master planner for the project, which seeks to redevelop the plaza as part of a five-year plan to "redefine Restoration's role for the 21st century," the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation announced today.
The non-profit independent theatre has offered a wide range of Black theater for over three decades. A schedule of the current season is available.
