Baking soda can also be used to eliminate urine smell from the mattress. All you have to do is to make a paste of baking soda and water. Apply this paste on the spot and top it with a few drops of distilled vinegar. Gently scrub the spot with a soft cloth, before using paper towels to soak the fluid.
Vinegar is a strong acid and it can perfectly remove the urine smell from a mattress. It is also a natural disinfectant and will kill the microbes. After drying the stain, you can use a solution made from 1 part vinegar and 2 parts warm water to remove the smell.
Baking soda is excellent for odor removal, so if the stain carries a stubborn smell, baking soda may be precisely what you need to neutralize it. Baking soda is also adept in absorbing moisture. To apply the baking soda, sprinkle liberally on the surface of the mattress, making sure that it covers both the stains and outside the edges of it.
Remove sheets and other bedding and clean immediately in a washing machine. Fill your spray bottle with half white vinegar and half water (50/50 mix). Set aside. Use paper towels (or absorbent cotton towels) to remove as much urine from the mattress as you can.
Apply a commercially available, enzyme-based urine odor and stain remover on the offending mattress and box spring, according to the manufacturer's directions, if a urine odor remains. The process generally consists of thoroughly spraying the box spring and mattress with the enzyme-based odor remover and allowing it to stay on the surface until the mattress and box spring dries.
Spray (or pour) urine remover solution onto your mattress, getting it nice and saturated, especially on yellow pee stains. Make sure to use the mixture right away for best results as the peroxide starts to break down in light. Make more solution and saturate as needed for large mattresses. Don't forget to get sides of the mattress too.
